Senior Baccalaureate

What is “Baccalaureate”?

Baccalaureate is a celebration of the Class of 2018 and will be held on Monday, June 11th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  There will be a reception in the band room with punch and finger foods immediately following the celebration.  Although it is an optional graduation activity, it is a very memorable part of the graduation process, and we would love to have our Tucker grads attend.  Baccalaureate also happens to be THE BEST PHOTO OP for you and your fellow grads, in your caps & gowns, as it is nearly impossible to get candid photos of you and your friends at the Siegel Center.  Come support Ms. Selden, Ms. Knapp, Sgt. Major Cauley, Ms. Finch, and Officer O’Keefe, who will be speaking to our graduates about life choices.  We hope to see you there!

If you missed the senior parent meeting, the information is posted on our school web site and can be accessed at the “Seniors: Class of 2018” link on the right of the home page.  Just click on “Announcements” once you are there!

Tigers in the News

Check this out!  Senior Dominic Patterson appeared Friday on Fox to talk about his future and the Career Technical Education Department’s Signing Day event.

Tucker can now boast of having a Pulitzer prize winner amongst the list of graduates!  Michael Schmidt, a 2001 graduate of the Spanish Immersion Center, received the Pulitzer prize for his investigative journalism through his work with the New York Times.  Here is the story from the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Way to go Canisha Robinson!  Junior Canisha received a bronze medal last weekend at the state Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) conference.  J.R. Tucker High School was also recognized for participating in community service, career connections, study body and the stop the violence program.
