Principal's Message

Welcome to the Home of the Tigers!

J.R. Tucker High School is a new state-of-the-art LEED certified building on 44 beautiful acres.  We are proud of our diversity, as the most diverse high school in the Commonwealth of Virginia where 65 countries and 35 different home languages are represented at Tucker.  Our diversity provides us with a tremendous opportunity to learn from each other as our students become 21st century leaders.

We are a nurturing and inclusive school with dedicated and enthusiastic staff members working to provide an environment in which our students may grow and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. We have 8 National Board-Certified Teachers and counting!

Tucker prides itself on the variety of programs it offers to address the educational and personal growth needs of our students. We believe that all our students possess unique gifts, and it is our job to help grow the greatness within!

Tucker Tigers have had a long tradition of excellence in the classroom, on the stage, and on the playing field.  Currently, we field 32 athletic teams and offer our Tigers over 60 clubs and activities, which include a Virginia Blue-Ribbon Music Department, an award-winning Marine Corps Junior ROTC and a nationally ranked Robotics Program. We challenge all our Tigers to seek out and connect with at least one of these opportunities.

We are also proud to be the only school in Henrico County to house three specialty centers.  Please click on the links below to learn more about these unique programs:

The achievement of our students and the success of our school are dependent upon building a strong partnership with you.  We encourage you to support your child’s academic and extra-curricular endeavors by staying informed through our school website, the PowerSchool Parent Portal and by following us on Twitter and Instagram.

Last, but not least, Tucker is where I began my career in education.  It is an honor to return here as the principal and lead the school that embraced me and helped forge my core beliefs.

Thank you for your trust in us, and we appreciate your support as we strive to provide your child with excellent and unique opportunities in which to learn and grow.

Go Tigers!

Sincerely,

Arthur G. Raymond III, Principal
