Last weekend, 15 Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) competed in the DECA State Level Competition. We were honored that 8 members received the following awards:

Highest Test Scores: Audrey Hardymon, Vanya Shrivastava, Sreeja Panguluri, Sultan Daou, Noti Flemotomos, Ngoc Nguyen, Riley Hayden

Highest Role Play Scores: Sreeja Panguluri (Both Role Plays) and Kaia Patel

Sreeja also qualified to compete at the International level in Anaheim, CA.  Please wish her Good Luck!!!

From Ms. Thompson, DECA sponsor: We are incredibly proud of everyone’s achievements! We also reached Super START level by increasing our membership over 10 from the previous year.  This accomplishment speaks volumes about the strength and spirit of our DECA chapter. We are inspired by our members’ achievements and look forward to building on this success in future competitions. Thank you to all who supported and believed in us!

Freshmen IB students have been holding their Cell Executive Campaigns by voting for the best Organelle poster. A QR code outside Ms. Hutcheson’s room has been used to let students from a variety of grades/classes participate in the “Cell Election”. Results will be announced this week.

Chaitra Maganti and Himasri Dasari won 3rd place in Policy at Debate Regionals! On to Super Regionals!

Andrew Weippert (11) Placed 5th at the VHSL Wrestling State Tournament

As part of the 2023 Datathon competition, Audrey Hardymon, Vanya Shrivastava, and Sreeja Panguluri presented on the topic Uncovering Obstetric Mortality. The team examined issues such as the lack of medical care, because of factors such as finances and language barriers. The team examined a data set, and as a result they created an AI-driven app called DoulaAI.

Just last week  these same students participated in the Diamond Challenge, a global entrepreneurship competition in Delaware. They had to present to a panel of CEOs. Only 64 out of 5,000 applicants made it to the final round. They are among that elite group! This is amazing!
