Parker Walls was accepted into the French program of the Governor’s Language Academy this summer!  

Kelly Trinh won a scholarship of up to $40,000 (up to $10,000/year) towards an undergraduate degree in engineering or computer science and an offer to complete a summer internship at Amazon at a surprise event in Arlington last Thursday.

Gabriela (Gaby) Neyra was accepted into the Pathways to Science program [Caminos a la Ciencia] for the summer of 2024 at Randolph Macon College.

Pathways is a four day program that Latina young ladies have an opportunity to see what college life is like while learning about STEM topics that could lead to an exciting and engaging career!

Caminos a la Ciencia es un programa que conectan la vida universitaria mientras aprendes temas de STEM que podrían dar paso a una carrera emocionante y entretenida.

Chemical Reactions

Dr. Brock’s students did a reactions Lab today, in which they explored the different types of chemical reactions that they have been learning about.  Over the next few days, they’ll be connecting what they saw with the concepts they learned.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America

This past weekend, two FCCLA students attended the Virginia FCCLA State Leadership Conference. They competed in STAR Events and here are the results:

Joseph Gwaltney – earned a Bronze medallion in Career Investigations

Hawwa Wall – earned a Silver medallion in Nutrition and Wellness

MCJROTC News 

Congratulations to Peighton Robinson, Siddiqah Wall, Brandon Oliver, and Andrea Mrkaja on being selected as the cadets of the third marking period! These cadets are the example to follow.

For the first time, the JROTC Drill Team qualified and competed at the National Drill Championship. They competed in four categories: color guard, armed regulation, exhibition, and inspection, and came in 7th place overall. Austin Barnes led the color guard, and they earned a trophy by placing 4th. Veb Rustemovic led armed regulation and inspection, and they placed 6th and 7th. Brandon Oliver led the exhibition, and they placed 7th. LtCol Gaitens and SgtMaj Cauley are incredibly proud of them! 

Theatre News

Just before spring break, theatre students performed in the annual BARDATHON sponsored by Richmond Shakespeare and the RPAA.  We were the last group to go, and we WOW-ed the audience with our take on the final scene of A WINTER’S TALE.  We had 27 students attend from across grades and specialty centers.

Chorus News

This weekend, four of our choral students, Erica Axtell, Shourya Narayan, Keeley Maddux and Claire Brown will be participating in the All-Virginia Chorus.  Tucker tied with Mechanicsville High School to have the most students from one school make it in our district!

I would like to shout out Daniella Gauna, Kayra Rueda, Christin Duval, Amiyah Neal, Jasom Rodriguez, Eloisa Marinho, Marjan Hussaini, TK Tohki, Zaraksh Ahmadzada for being AMAZING Equity Ambassadors! They have taken on our new student orientation program flawlessly and welcome each new student with smiles and encouragement! The program wouldn’t run without these students and I am thankful for their flexibility and compassion every day!
