Tuesday, May 14 Today's theme is school colors; hope you wore some orange & blue to show your Tucker pride! After school, Tucker will host the Tucker Last Chance Qualifier, a 12 team home Track meet.starting at 5:30 pm. Be there to support our track team! At 6:00 PM, our Varsity Baseball team takes on John Marshall. The Wrestling Team will be recognized! Also at 6:00 PM, our Varsity Softball team plays John Marshall. The Forensics Club will be recognized! We will also be honoring Coach Pat McGuire by dedicating the field in his name, and we hope you can be there for the special dedication. The 1st 10 students who check in with DoorList at each game will receive free orange or blue Airheads! Thursday, May 16 Tiger athletes, mark your calendars! Next Thursday, May 23, we are hosting the JRT Athletic Banquet & Silent Auction from 6-8 pm. Not only will we celebrate you, our Tiger athletes, but you can enjoy our first-ever silent auction. Come early and bid on one (or more) of our 37 baskets donated by our JR Tucker athletes, parents and sponsors. From hundreds of dollars in restaurant gift cards to lawn care to free admission to Virginia attractions, there’s biddable items for everyone. Auction will run until 7 pm, followed by the athletic program. We hope to see you there - Thursday, May 23 from 6-8 pm! Best wishes to our Track team members competing in Regionals at Hermitage today! Tomorrow both the baseball and softball teams celebrate their seniors! Please plan to join them on senior night and bring some sunglasses, a tropical shirt or hat to dress Hawaiian! Friday, May 17 Today's theme is Hawaiian, and we want to see you showing your spirit in the stands and cheering for our seniors during their last home game! At 6:00 PM, Varsity Girls Soccer plays Hermitage. The Hunger Helpers Club will be recognized! At 7:00 PM, our Varsity Baseball team takes on Hermitage. The FCA Club will be recognized, and it's SENIOR NIGHT, so we will celebrate our 3 seniors! Also at 7:00 PM, our Varsity Softball team plays Hermitage. It's SENIOR NIGHT! Our 3 seniors will be recognized. as well as the RAMPS Club! The 1st 10 students who check in with DoorList at each game will receive a free lei! Marine Corps JROTC is headed to Nationals! We are very proud of how hard the JROTC drill team worked to get to the 2nd Region Drill Competition! Because of their efforts, they earned the Armed Division Overall Runner-Up over the weekend in Norman Park, GA, which qualifies them for the Marine Corps National Drill Championship. This is the first time they have qualified for Nationals in the program's history. They also earned first place in unarmed color guard and second place in unarmed exhibition, armed inspection, and armed regulation. We are incredibly excited for this team! James Dorton, a history teacher at J.R. Tucker High School, is congratulated by Amy Cashwell, HCPS superintendent, for winning the REB Award for Teaching Excellence, as Ingrid Grant, chief of school leadership, looks on. HCPS had four winners and five finalists in 2023.
